Anne Rutherford was born in Epping England in 1939. She did her schooling in Epping and graduated from acting school in London. She met Ulick at the acting school and they married, had two children (Shannon and Kieran) and emigrated to Australia in 1962.
After arriving in Australia they settled in the small town of Jindabyne. Anne and Ulick wrote radio plays and small productions for the local schools and community groups. Anne assisted in writing some of the songs that were recorded on the the first two albums.
Anne has a beautiful clear and steady voice with a wonderful capacity for harmonies. She sings quite a few solo songs on the first two albums and is strong with her back-up vocals and also adds the great gift of impersonating accents from other countries.
Anne sang on a further two albums: 'Love at Kings Cross' and 'West of Cooma', regretfully these albums are currently not available for sale.
Anne and Ulick had their third child Conn whilst living in Jindabyne. Ulick was working away a lot and Anne's hands were fairly full raising the family through the day and working some evenings at the old Jindabyne Hotel. Life was tough but exhilarating. The Settlers began singing at local venues and their popularity was growing!
